She wrote that Meta was her “first choice” because “I’m obsessed with how humans connect through technology,” and that Zuckerberg’s store had “a bigger impact than Meta in that space.” It is unique in that “no company has the power to do so.”

Crawford praised his new boss, Zuckerberg, for his “vision and enthusiasm.”

“Seeing how he has made the company more efficient and removed bureaucracy over the past year makes me even more bullish on joining him now,” Crawford wrote on Meta-owned Instagram. “Because we want to act quickly and ship great products.”

Crawford joined Twitter in December 2020 after acquiring the video chat startup Squad.

When Mr. Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion in late 2022, Mr. Crawford was one of the executives retained who bought into the mogul’s vision of 24-hour work in the office.

In November 2022, she posted several photos on social media of herself wearing a sleeping bag on the floor of her office.

“When teams are working around the clock to meet deadlines, sometimes we #SleepWhereYouWork,” Crawford wrote in a now-deleted tweet.

Mr. Musk rewarded Mr. Crawford by appointing him head of Twitter Blue’s subscription service.

But Musk ultimately handed the pink slip to Crawford and other top engineers to cut costs.

About 80% of employees have been laid off since Musk took over the company formerly known as Twitter.

Months after his firing, Crawford said of Mr. I can’t do it,” he wrote. ”

“It was difficult to read how he was in his mood or how he would react to things given to him, so people were immediately called to meetings or shared negative news with him. I became afraid of what I had to do,” Crawford wrote.

She also wrote that Mr. Musk had an “inner circle” that was “overly zealous and fanatical” who “unwaveringly supported everything he said.”

Mr. Zuckerberg’s decision to hire Mr. Crawford is a new wrinkle in his long-standing rivalry with Mr. Musk, who has repeatedly attacked the fellow tech billionaire.

Musk reportedly said that Zuckerberg’s social media platforms “depress people.”

After reports emerged that Meta was developing an app to compete with Company X, Tesla’s president began escalating his dispute with Zuckerberg.

That app eventually became known as Threads. Initial deployments were successful, but usage rates declined.

However, data from February showed that Threads had more downloads than X on Apple’s iOS and Google Play.

Threads reportedly has more than 130 million monthly users, while X says it has about 550 million users.

X threatened legal action against Meta, alleging that Meta hired a former Twitter engineer and used company secrets to create a copycat app.

Mr. Crawford’s hiring is the latest wrinkle in the long-running feud between Mr. Zuckerberg and Mr. Musk. Reuters

Mehta dismissed this claim.

Mr. Musk also challenged Mr. Zuckerberg to a mixed martial arts match, but the two men were unable to agree on a date and venue.

The Post has reached out to X and Mehta for comment.
