Ethan Hawke Opens Up About Past Relationship with Uma Thurman
Ethan Hawke recently discussed the discomfort he felt from media scrutiny during his marriage to Uma Thurman, revealing that he found it to be quite “humiliating.” The couple, who married in 1998 and finalized their divorce in 2005, have now been apart for over two decades but share a daughter together.
The pair first met on the set of “Gattaca” in 1997. Reflecting on their romance, Hawke mentioned that there’s a certain closeness in acting, something he likened to an intense, albeit precarious, summer fling. “It’s imaginative intimacy… it can be thrilling,” he remarked, underscoring how the profession can blur lines between reality and performance.
After their divorce, both Hawke and Thurman moved on to different relationships. Hawke married Ryan Shawhughes in 2008, with whom he has two daughters. Thurman, on the other hand, was briefly engaged to Arpad Busson and welcomed another daughter, Luna, in 2014.
