Florida Linebacker Shot in Head
Florida linebacker Ethan Pritchard was shot in the head on Sunday night, as his father disclosed earlier this week.
Earl Pritchard shared with local news that Ethan was shot while driving to his aunt’s house near Havana, Florida, outside of Tallahassee. “He got in the car, took his sister to the corner to drop her off at his daughter’s house,” Earl explained. “They turned the corner, and right then they heard a gunshot.”
Earl mentioned that Ethan’s condition is stable, though he’s being closely watched by medical staff due to swelling in his head.
Seminole head coach Mike Noble visited Ethan in the hospital on Wednesday and has been in contact with the family. “It’s something that’s very challenging, I won’t say otherwise,” he stated. “I’m trying to keep players updated… I had a brief but meaningful visit with him.”
“His condition remains stable,” Noble added. “We pray for him daily and are here for the players—it’s more than just football; it’s about supporting our brother.”
Authorities are currently investigating the shooting incident.
Pritchard had helped Tallahassee win against Alabama on Saturday, even though he didn’t participate in their season opener.
On Monday, the program released a statement noting that Pritchard was “critical but stable in the intensive care unit at a local hospital.” They expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from the community and requested privacy for the family during this difficult time, promising to share updates as they become available.
