Ethel Kennedy, widow of Robert F. Kennedy, hospitalized after suffering stroke, family says 

Ethel Kennedy, a social justice advocate and widow of the late U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, suffered a stroke last week and is recovering in the hospital, her grandson said in a statement.

Former Congressman Joe Kennedy III (D-Mass.) Post on social platform X On Tuesday, she announced that her grandmother had suffered a stroke and was taken to the hospital, where she was receiving treatment and was “comfortable.”

“Unfortunately, on Thursday morning, she suffered a stroke while sleeping. She was taken to a local hospital and is currently receiving treatment,” he wrote in the post.

“She is comfortable, receiving the best care possible, and surrounded by her family,” he added in the post.

Ethel Kennedy, 96, is the sister-in-law of former President John F. Kennedy and the mother of 11 children, including former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

In a statement, Joe Kennedy asked for privacy at this time.

“Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Please respect our family's privacy at this time,” he wrote in the post.
