Eva Mendes has opened up about her choice to become a mother later in life.
Recent interviews with peopleMendes called the assumption that it’s better to have children at a younger age “ridiculous” and explained that it doesn’t apply to her.
“When I was 40, getting pregnant was a big deal to everyone, but not to me,” she told the magazine. “And I was 42 and pregnant with my second child, and people were like, ‘Oh my God, it’s going to be so exhausting. She went on to explain that parenting requires a lot of patience, which wasn’t the case when she was in her 20s.
“When I was in my 20s, I shouldn’t have been around kids. I just had a bad mouth and smoked,” she explained. “I wouldn’t have been able to raise a child at any other time in my life, but I definitely could now.”
