The View Co-Hosts Criticize Rep. Crockett Over Epstein Comments
On Thursday, the co-hosts of “The View” took aim at Democratic Texas Representative Jasmine Crockett, accusing him of engaging in partisan politics after he claimed that Republicans received funding from Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender. According to Crockett, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, former Utah Senator Mitt Romney, and the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) were implicated. However, these donations reportedly came from a different Jeffrey Epstein, a self-employed doctor.
Co-host Joy Behar expressed her frustration, noting, “Well, it’s also a lie that Mitt Romney and the NRCC took money… so isn’t it also true that they took money from Jeffrey Epstein?” She added, “Okay, yes, that’s different. So confusing and annoying!”
Co-host Alyssa Farrar Griffin also weighed in, suggesting that it was particularly irritating for politicians to focus on blame rather than the seriousness of Epstein’s crimes. “Something terrible has been done. We all agree on that. Epstein committed a horrific crime, but people are more concerned with the fact that my team did not commit it. Your team did that,” Griffin said.
Sarah Haines chimed in, emphasizing the gravity of the Epstein situation and suggesting that Crockett address it more responsibly. “My team looked into this quickly when she said, when are you going to press charges? It’s big, we all know this incident is that big, just own it and say it was a mistake,” Haines remarked.
In response, Crockett defended his allegations, insisting he hadn’t had enough time to verify his claims before speaking out. He maintained that Zeldin misled people about receiving donations, despite a doctor with the same name having contributed to Zeldin’s campaign shortly after Epstein’s death.
According to Federal Election Commission records, donations totaling $750 were made to Zeldin’s congressional campaign by the doctor. The same individual also donated to Romney’s presidential campaign in 2012. Moreover, Crockett’s team apparently fell victim to a troll donation that listed Epstein’s occupation as “child molester.”
The political back-and-forth continues as new documents reveal that Stacey Plaskett, a Democratic delegate from the Virgin Islands, had interactions with Epstein during a congressional hearing in 2019. Reports indicate that he provided her with the names of associates connected to the Trump Organization. Additionally, he had also made contributions to her campaign.
