Ex-Alabama quarterback recruit Julian Sayin transferring to Ohio State

Julian Sain, one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2024 class, has committed to Ohio State after entering the transfer portal on Friday.

thane told ESPN He said he plans to enroll at Ohio State University soon and will participate in the Buckeyes' spring practice.

In early January, the quarterback had just committed to the University of Alabama, where Sane originally wanted to go to play for Nick Saban.

That was until the legendary college football coach retired on January 10th.

“I'm incredibly excited to join the team here at Ohio State,” Sain told ESPN about the decision. “I have valued this program highly throughout the recruiting process and look forward to learning from some of the most talented players and coaches in college football and contributing to the team's success.”

Sane already has some familiarity with Ohio State's coaching staff through the recruiting process out of high school.

The five-star recruit also has ties to Bill O'Brien, who attended the University of Alabama recruiting school and recently joined the Buckeyes as offensive coordinator.

The Buckeyes already have a fairly deep quarterback room, with former Kansas State quarterback Will Howard transferring for the 2024 season.

Devin Brown, Lincoln Kienholtz and Air Noland are also on Ohio State's roster.

Ohio State finished the season 11-2, losing to Missouri 14-3 in the Cotton Bowl.

Saban's departure is another loss for Alabama, which has had many players leave the team since Saban announced his retirement.

Former Washington coach Karen DeBoer replaces Saban as Alabama coach told reporters On Friday, he said he was “not worried at all” about the many roster changes since joining the Crimson Tide.

Since Saban retired, seven players have left the program, including freshman All-American safety Caleb Downs and top returning wide receiver Isaiah Bond.
