Kristi Noem’s Marriage in Turmoil
Kristi Noem seems to be ending her 34-year marriage following the revelation of her husband’s secretive fetish life. Reports indicate that the former DHS secretary is filing for divorce from her husband, Bryon Noem, who is now relocating from their home in Castlewood, South Dakota. Interestingly, there doesn’t seem to be any official divorce paperwork available in South Dakota court records, and Noem herself hasn’t publicly commented on the situation.
Colin Arnold, Noem’s mother, shared with the Daily Mail that her daughter disclosed the decision during a family gathering for her grandson’s birthday earlier this spring, shortly after Bryon’s scandal became public. Arnold seemed to have known the divorce was on the horizon. “It was hard, but we anticipated this outcome,” she mentioned, revealing that she had pressed Noem for clarity during a rally. When she asked directly if they would reconcile, Noem’s response was a clear “No,” and she confirmed they were going their separate ways. There’s a Sioux Falls attorney involved in the divorce proceedings, and Bryon has moved about 32 miles away while still managing his insurance business.
The relationship unraveling comes on the heels of an investigation that began back in March, where it was revealed that Bryon, at 56, had participated in a “sex appeal” fetish scene involving adult performers. Allegations surfaced that he sent images of himself in inappropriate scenarios, prompting concerns from national security experts about potential blackmail risks. Noem expressed feelings of being “blinded” and “devastated” by these reports, requesting privacy and support during the ordeal.
This personal turmoil coincides with a challenging phase in Noem’s professional life. President Trump reassigned her from her role in Homeland Security on March 5, placing her in a different position as Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas. This change followed intense Congressional hearings focusing on her immigration policies.
Rumors about their marriage had been floating for years. Allegations of Noem’s closeness with former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski came to light in 2023, with claims of an affair. Noem has denied these allegations, while her mother defended both her daughter and Lewandowski, calling the rumors “nonsense.”
Arnold, a widow since 1994, expressed sadness over the situation but seemed to understand her daughter’s choices. “It hurts and it’s upsetting that they’re parting ways, but what can I do about it?” she reflected.
