Ex-Hochul aide, husband arrested in corruption probe after feds raided her LI home

A former aide to Gov. Kathy Hockal was arrested Tuesday morning along with her husband after federal agents searched their Long Island home earlier this year, the FBI announced.

Linda Sun and her husband, Christopher Hu, were arrested in Long Island, the FBI confirmed to The Washington Post.

The charges remain undisclosed. Sun and Hu are scheduled to go on trial Tuesday afternoon.

Law enforcement sources said the arrest was part of a corruption investigation unrelated to the governor. Sun was originally hired by then-Governor Andrew Cuomo to work in the governor's office.

Sun was fired from his job at the state Department of Labor after “evidence of misconduct” was found, The Washington Post first reported earlier this year.

In July, the $3.5 million home owned by Sun and Hu in Manhasset was searched by the FBI.

Hu owned and operated a liquor store in Flushing, Queens, and also ran several other businesses, including a limited liability company dealing in medical equipment that emerged during the pandemic.

Sources say Sun has close ties to Queens Democrats, particularly Asian American lawmakers, and was a close ally and senior staff member of then-Rep. Grace Meng (D-N.Y.) before she was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.

Sun also worked at Empire State Development in a position building business ties and coordinating trade missions, her records show. LinkedIn ProfileHer portfolio focused on South and East Asian countries, including China, sources said.

Albany insiders have speculated about how Sun and her husband were able to purchase their $3.5 million Manhasset mansion.

According to state payroll records, Sun earned $152,217 during his final year working for the Department of Labor.
