Former LSU star wide receiver Kylen Lacey is wanted on charges of negligent homicide and felony hit-and-run. WAFB Louisiana reported..
Louisiana State Police issued a warrant for Lacey's arrest following a Dec. 27 car crash that killed one former U.S. Marine and injured two others.
Authorities told Lacey, 24, and her attorney to turn themselves in. Per ESPN.
Troopers who responded to the crash say Lacey was driving on Louisiana Highway 20 when he began crossing the center line into oncoming traffic in an attempt to pass a slower vehicle.
Lacey, who was traveling south in the northbound lane, forced the pickup truck driver to slam on the brakes and swerve to avoid a head-on collision.
The driver of the pickup truck swerved to the right, while the other driver, who was behind the wheel of the Kia, swerved to the left and crossed the center line.
There, the driver collided head-on with another vehicle.
Lacey reportedly drove around the accident scene and then fled south.
According to WAFB, he did not stop his vehicle, call emergency services or report his involvement in the accident to authorities.
The passenger, former Marine Herman Hall, was seriously injured in the accident.
Authorities rushed Hall, 78, to the hospital, but they were unable to save his life.
On Friday, Alliance Sports, which represents Lacey, released a statement regarding the matter.
“We are aware of the allegations that have been made regarding Kyren Lacy and would like to take this opportunity to address them,” the statement reads. “First and foremost, Kairen is cooperating fully with authorities. While we strongly believe that ultimately the facts will prove the truth, we respect the need for a full and thorough investigation. .
“We are aware of the concerns and questions that may arise from these recent allegations. We would like to reassure everyone directly or indirectly affected that this matter is taken very seriously. We want to assure you that we are aware of this and are committed to responsibly resolving it.”
Lacy declared for the 2025 NFL Draft just two days after his accident.
“LSU has really had a huge impact on my life over the last three years on and off the field,” Lacy said. wrote on Instagram. “Playing in Death Valley in front of the best fans in the country was an experience I'll never forget. Not many people get to live out a dream like this, and I'm forever grateful.
“I would like to express my gratitude to all the coaches, support staff and trainers who have helped me develop not only as a footballer, but most importantly as a person.The goal of winning the national championship has been achieved. I couldn't, but I promise I'll take all my life lessons with me into the next chapter of my life.
During the 2024 season, Lacy led the team in touchdowns (9) and was second in both catches (58) and receiving yards (866).
