Alexis Morris was a major contributor to LSU’s victory over Iowa in the national championship last year, scoring 21 points and dishing out nine assists in the victory.
This year has been a different year for LSU. The Tigers lost to Iowa in the Elite Eight matchup. Hawkeyes sharpshooter Caitlin Clark made nine 3-pointers and scored 41 points in the game. For Morris, now with the Harlem Globetrotters, criticizing Kim Mulkey’s game plan was enough.

“Let me give you my unbiased opinion, we should have made some adjustments defensively. Someone else should have guarded Caitlin Clark,” Morris said on video this week. “Rollerblading, skating all night, Healy! Do you all remember Healy? The one who lifts his legs like this and just rolls around.”
Haley Van Lith was guarding Clark all night, but the ESPN broadcast reported that she was sick before the game. But no matter who was on Clark, she stayed on fire for most of the match.

“There’s no big strategy. We have to protect her. It seems like there’s no one else who can protect her but her,” Mulkey said after the match. “Last year when we beat them, we didn’t even guard her. She’s just a generational player and she just makes everyone around her better.”
Iowa State advances to the Final Four and will face UConn.
