Rafael Furcal in Legal Trouble After Alleged Incident
The former MLB All-Star has reportedly turned himself in following an incident involving alleged violence in South Florida.
Rafael Furcal, known for his time in Major League Baseball, played primarily with the Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers during a career that spanned 14 years. His final season in 2014 was spent with the Miami Marlins, where he reportedly ran into legal trouble, as noted in records from local news sources.
Furcal is now facing two felony charges and has been taken to Broward County Jail. These charges are linked to an incident believed to have occurred on Monday, involving the throwing of deadly items into occupied vehicles, as well as aggravated battery with lethal weapons.
Details about the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are still unclear, leaving some questions unanswered.
Furcal made an appearance at the Broward County Sheriff’s Office jail in Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday. He was released on bail amounting to $7,500 following his arrest.
Born in the Dominican Republic, Furcal has faced legal issues before, including arrests for DUI in both 2000 and 2004 during his time with the Braves. He won the National League Rookie of the Year award in 2000 and participated in the All-Star Game in 2003. After his stints with the Braves and Dodgers, he played for the St. Louis Cardinals, ultimately earning a World Series Championship Ring in 2011.
