Former Penn State Football Player Charged in ATV Accident
A former player for Penn State’s football team is facing serious allegations related to the death of his girlfriend after an ATV accident that occurred in May.
Julian Fleming, who is 24, and his girlfriend Alyssa Boyd, 23, were reportedly riding on a rural road in Bradford County, just near the Pennsylvania-New York border, around the night of May 22 when they struck a deer, as stated by the Pennsylvania State Police.
According to documents retrieved from a source, Fleming’s blood alcohol level was recorded at 0.118 immediately following the incident.
He has been charged with vehicular homicide, DUI, and aggravated vehicular assault. His attorney, David Bahyuriak, expressed his belief that the prosecution has turned a tragic accident into a crime, suggesting that the evidence doesn’t support the homicide allegations.
Authorities also noted that neither Fleming nor Boyd was wearing safety gear during the accident.
Fleming was a standout wide receiver, initially playing for the Ohio State Buckeyes from 2020 to 2024. After a commendable high school career, he joined Ohio State as the top prospect from Pennsylvania. He later transferred to Penn State and became eligible for play before the 2024 season.
During his time with the Nittany Lions, he participated in 16 games, making 14 receptions for 176 yards and scoring one touchdown. Prior to this, while at Ohio State, he recorded 79 catches for 963 yards and seven touchdowns over 38 games. Following his college career, he signed as an undrafted free agent with the Green Bay Packers, but his contract was revoked after he failed a physical examination.
Following the crash, Boyd sustained serious injuries and tragically passed away at the scene. She was a student at the University of Alabama.
