Former Teacher Admits to Sexually Assaulting Students

In a startling turn of events, a former teacher from New Jersey has confessed to sexually assaulting two of her students.

Julie Rizzitello, 37, entered a guilty plea to two counts of sexual assault during a session presided over by Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Jill G. O’Malley.

“The actions of this former teacher represent a betrayal of trust not only towards the victims but also the entire school community,” remarked an official.

This case involved an investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims’ Unit and the Wall Township Police Department, supported by both the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and Brick Township Police Department. Detective Jose I. Rodriguez and Officer Devin Corso led the case, which revealed a complex victimization scenario against Rizzitello, reported in a recent press release from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

Previously, Judge Mark C. Lemieux noted that Michael Scalano, the head of human resources at Wall Township Public Schools, reported an inappropriate relationship between Rizzitello and students based on tips from school staff.

Rizzitello, who taught at Wall Township High School, was taken into custody on July 3, 2024, at her home in Brick Township without incident.

The court documents detail that Rizzitello had a relationship with one student from May 18, 2024, to June 14, 2024, which involved “oral and vaginal intercourse.” In one instance, she and an 18-year-old student were found engaging in sexual acts in May 2024, with claims of her sending nude photos to him as they met up in different locations.

Another student reported that he and Rizzitello had vaginal intercourse at her home in Brick Township between November 23, 2017, and January 21, 2018, when he was just 17 years old.

In discussions with Detective Rodriguez, Rizzitello reportedly submitted photos and text messages that corroborated the accusations against her.

Sean O’Halloran, Chief of Wall Township Police, stated, “The former teacher’s actions signify a betrayal of trust not only to her victims but to the entire school community. I applaud those who came forward, as well as the diligence of the investigators in securing justice.” He emphasized the commitment to protecting young people in the community.

Public records suggest Rizzitello began her career with Wall Township Public Schools in 2013. She is set for sentencing on January 9, 2026, where prosecutors are pursuing a 10-year prison term. Additional penalties may include mandatory registration as a sex offender under Megan’s Law, lifelong parole supervision, and a permanent forfeiture of public office.
