“I left my family to coach at Texas A&M. I took the Texas A&M job because I never wanted to take another job again. And that still doesn’t change. It’s not fair to say that…” he said. “I know you want to ask, but I sacrificed a big part of my life to get this job, I poured my whole soul into this job, I gave everything I could to this job. Write that down.”
But the rumors turned out to be true. Schlossnagle is an in-state rival of the Aggies. Texas Longhorns.
Social media erupted in excitement over the irony of the video, with many calling on Schlossnagle to apologise for his harsh response.

And on Wednesday, he did.
“I want to publicly apologize to Texas Ag’s Richard Zane,” Schlossnagel said at his introductory news conference. “He was a young reporter and he asked a legitimate question. I wish I could have answered it better. But in that moment, 30 minutes after the last pitch, all I was thinking about was my players.”
“I wasn’t in the mood to talk about myself or my future. So, [I] My apologies to Richard.”

Schlossnagle’s departure comes after the Aggies lost to Tennessee in the College World Series final this week.
On Wednesday, he said he understood fans’ reaction to the news of his departure.
“If I had left Texas A&M for another university in another part of the country, the interesting text messages and messages I received yesterday probably wouldn’t have happened. But we’ll see.”
