Ex-UFC fighter implores Trump to pardon Cain Velasquez

Former UFC star Cain Velazquez He was sentenced to five years in prison on Monday after not suing a fight in the 2022 shooting of a man who allegedly abused his son.

Velazquez was arrested in February 2022 on attempted murder and multiple gun charges. The man was later identified as Harry Golart.

Prosecutors said Velazquez chased a pickup truck carrying 11 miles through busy streets in the San Jose area.

Velazquez receives one, 283 days of credit offered at the prison, which will be about three years. To KTVU. He remains under his sentence for a year and a half.

But one of his former UFC colleagues, Luke Rockhold, hopes to reduce that number with the help of President Donald Trump.

“If there's a time when President Trump step in and offer a real pardon that has all the meaning in the world… our situation is somewhat justified.

“Cain is one of the kindest and sweetest things. He never does anything wrong until you punch him in the face, until you make him wrong. He is a big teddy bear, what can I say?”

The former champion refused to argue against felony assault and gun charges as part of a negotiation agreement with the Santa Clara County Prosecutor's Office, District Attorney Jeff Rosen said in August. The planned murder charges against Velázquez were withdrawn as part of the deal.

Velazquez made his first acquisition UFC Heavyweight Championship In 2012, defeated Junior Dos Santos. Velazquez managed to defend the title twice.
