Trump’s Great Health Care Plan Promises Reduced Costs
President Trump addressed reporters on Friday, responding to a question from Breitbart News about his proposed Great Health Care Plan. He asserted that the plan would provide better healthcare while significantly lowering costs for Americans, resulting in “significant savings.”
During his visit to Breitbart News before departing the White House via Marine One for Palm Beach, Florida, Trump was queried about how his plan might impact health insurance premiums.
“That’s a great plan,” he stated. “It’s referred to as the Great Health Care Plan, and as you’ll see, pharmaceutical and prescription drug prices are expected to decrease significantly. We’re doing this by looking at the lowest prices from around the world. We’ll pay what the lowest country pays.”
He emphasized that currently, the U.S. often pays vastly more than other nations, sometimes up to ten times higher. “We have been giving preferential treatment to other countries, and that has been approved. Most have agreed to these terms; otherwise, we’d have imposed tariffs,” he explained.
Moreover, Trump highlighted that his plan would eliminate billions in taxpayer subsidies going to insurance companies, redirecting those funds directly to Americans who qualify.
“The money will go straight to the people, not corporations or insurance companies. Individuals will buy their own healthcare, resulting in better options at a much-reduced cost,” he remarked.
Lowering prescription drug prices and insurance premiums are two of the four essential elements of the Great Health Care Plan unveiled on Thursday. A third component aims to enhance transparency in healthcare pricing, requiring providers and insurers that accept Medicare and Medicaid to clearly display their charges to avoid unexpected medical bills, according to White House press secretary Caroline Levitt.
Levitt also noted that the fourth element focuses on empowering Americans to make informed decisions by increasing health insurance options and mandating that insurers publish clear rate and coverage comparisons on their websites.
