Exciting News: Dental Services Now Available for Utah Adults on Medicaid!

Salt Lake City – Adult Utah Medicaid beneficiaries have access to dental services provided by over 300 dentists across Utah and various schools, mobile clinics, and rural facilities.

The University of Utah School of Dentistry has collaborated with Medicaid to broaden eligibility for dental services, which now includes not only children, seniors over 65, pregnant individuals, those with disabilities, but also adults receiving treatment for substance abuse disorders.

This expansion is projected to provide dental treatments for an additional 120,000 adults, encompassing examinations every six months, x-rays, cleanings, fillings, dentures, root canals, and emergency evaluations.

“After utilizing our own resources, (University of Utah Dentistry) stepped in to fill the gap with a shared aim of offering high-quality dental care to adults on Medicaid.”

She expressed appreciation for the school’s dedication to collaboration and community service.

According to a declaration from the Utah Department of Health and Human Services.

Dentists enrolled in the school’s provider network have reported the availability of reimbursement incentives along with Medicaid payments and complimentary continuing education opportunities. Dentists who wish to contribute to the community can Apply for the program.

“Utah Medicaid isn’t your average Medicaid. This is a different experience,” stated James Becker, associate dean at the dental school. He noted that the application process is more streamlined and the compensation has improved compared to prior systems.
