President Trump aims to make cars affordable again

Paul Gigot will lead a panel on “Journal Editorial Report” discussing President Donald Trump’s initiative to lower car costs by easing mileage regulations established during the Biden administration. This conversation will also touch on the potential effects on electric vehicle sales and the broader U.S. economy.

In other news, Chevrolet has launched a “Stars and Steel” collection to honor America’s upcoming 250th anniversary. This collection features a unique Corvette set to be auctioned in January and includes 250 limited-edition Corvettes.

The “Stars and Steel” series covers five models from Chevrolet’s 2026 lineup: Corvette, Silverado EV, Silverado LD, Silverado HD, and Colorado. All of these are made in the U.S. with parts sourced globally. The collection’s modern aesthetic is highlighted by a dark metallic finish that represents American pride and craftsmanship.

A distinctive 2026 Corvette ZR1X, showcasing a unique Stars and Steel design, will be auctioned off at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Winter Auction on January 24, 2026. All proceeds from this auction will support the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping veterans. The collection will make its debut at this weekend’s Army vs. Navy football game in Baltimore, Maryland. Ahead of the event, Fox News Digital has shared images of the impressive fleet.

This special Corvette is still nearing completion, but it promises to be an eye-catching model. The “Stars and Steel” collection also features a limited series of just 250 Corvettes, available across various models, including the Stingray and ZR1X. Buyers can opt for coupe or convertible versions in the 3LT/3LZ trim exclusively.

Owners of these limited models can select from Arctic White or Santorini Blue interiors, or Black and Adrenaline Red options. Each unit incorporates design elements such as a satin silver or black stripe inspired by the American flag, along with “250” graphics on the doors and spoiler, unique interior and sill plates with build sequence numbers, and other distinctive features like red accent details.

Scott Bell, vice president of Global Chevrolet, stated, “The Stars & Steel Collection celebrates an important milestone for the country that has been both the birthplace of our brand and our home for almost 115 years.” Each vehicle in this lineup reflects pride in American assembly and honors the nation’s heritage.

Production is set to start in early spring 2026, with package pricing to be revealed later.

Chevrolet’s commitment extends to donating the entire auction proceeds of the special Corvette to Tunnel to Towers, a nonprofit that aids the families of deceased first responders and servicemen. Additionally, the company pledges $250 from every vehicle sold in the Stars and Steel collection to a nonprofit supporting veterans.

Following President Trump’s executive order from January, a White House task force has begun planning for the 250th anniversary celebrations. The administration aims to collaborate with government at all levels, private businesses, and educational institutions to execute various events honoring the nation’s legacy.

Among the planned activities, a UFC event on the White House South Lawn is scheduled for June 14, coinciding with what would have been President Trump’s 80th birthday.
