Exclusive: Eaton fire ravages small town north of Pasadena as firefighters save what they can

Altadena, California Firefighters are battling from blaze to blaze as fires continue to burn in devastated areas of Altadena, a town north of Pasadena. Although the hurricane-force winds have finally subsided, the fires remain widespread in Los Angeles County.

At least five people were killed in Altadena as a wildfire tore through the northern part of the city early Wednesday morning, authorities said. Power lines and thick tree branches were scattered throughout Altadena, even in areas that were not burnt. There is also a utility pole cracked in half.

The car, which was left in the driveway, is now a burnt ruin. In some homes, only Christmas decorations such as garlands hanging on gates and fences remain.

As with other parts of Los Angeles County battling wildfires, getting water to affected areas is a major issue for firefighters and residents. A bigger danger than the still-smoldering building is the gas line still operating in the damaged building, providing an open flame that can be whipped up by the wind.

In unburnt areas of Altadena, some residents remain in their homes to watch over their property or complete evacuation procedures.

The Eaton Fire burned more than 10,000 acres, and the nearby Palisades Fire burned more than 17,000 acres.

As the city and county of Los Angeles teeter on the edge of disaster, many are pointing to Democratic officials' failure to prepare at nearly every step. Appropriate forest management is not implemented. There is no need to build more reservoirs to have extra water for such emergencies.

Perhaps Los Angeles locals are most upset about Mayor Karen Bass (D) deciding to attend the inauguration of Ghana's new president despite warnings of massive wildfires days earlier. ) Probably.
