Texas Democrat Changes Campaign Strategy

James Talarico, a Texas Democrat running for the U.S. Senate, is revising his image by removing what some label as far-left beliefs from his website. According to Blaze TV host Sarah Gonzalez, Talarico seems to be distancing himself from his earlier stances, particularly those that could undermine his chances in Texas.

“He appears to be running from his past, likely because he knows his original views won’t win over voters here,” Gonzalez remarked. She noted that as Talarico launched his Senate campaign, references to transgender issues, Republican extremism, and other progressive ideas have vanished from his site.

Previously, Talarico’s website boasted his commitment to confront Republican extremism. It claimed he had fought against bullying transgender children, book bans, a skewed educational curriculum, and a Christian nationalist agenda in Texas.

Gonzalez pointed out, “He used to highlight how Republicans were ‘bullying transgender kids and banning books.’ That seems to be gone now.” By August 2025, his site professed a dedication to advancing bold, progressive ideas.

“Yet, quite curiously, when he kicked off his campaign in early September, all those texts just disappeared,” she added.

Now, his platform seems to shift focus from ‘Republican extremism’ to opposing ‘billionaire megadonors,’ as noted by Gonzalez. “He doesn’t mention transgender children anymore; it’s all about expanding job opportunities for the youth,” she explained.

Furthermore, a statement on his “Why I’m Running” page claims the main divide in the country isn’t political but economic, a sentiment Gonzalez questioned. “That’s a bit of a joke, isn’t it?” she quipped.

Interestingly, in 2021, Talarico was a key figure at a Pride event in Taylor, Texas, where an 11-year-old drag queen performed. “It’s rather troubling; this child shouldn’t have been subjected to that,” Gonzalez expressed, highlighting her concerns about adult influences on children.

“Talarico has clearly supported events that feature adult men in women’s attire performing provocatively in front of young audiences,” she concluded.
