Senator Tuberville Addresses Threat of Islamic Extremism
Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) spoke on the Senate floor about the ongoing threat of Islamic extremism, emphasizing that it remains a significant danger to the United States. He referenced various past terrorist attacks and urged for heightened vigilance against extremist ideologies both domestically and internationally.
On Wednesday, Tuberville outlined the dangerous outcomes of Islamic extremist terrorism over the last twenty years, highlighting that the threat persists within the United States, as well as abroad.
He recalled, “Twenty-four years ago, on September 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 innocent Americans were killed in a coordinated terrorist attack by Islamic extremists. Those of us who experienced that day remember exactly where we were when the plane hit the building. That day changed our country forever.”
The Alabama senator mentioned several incidents that illustrate the ongoing menace of extremist ideology, including the Fort Hood shooting in 2009, the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013, the San Bernardino attack in 2015, and the shootings at an Orlando nightclub in 2016. He also referenced the Pensacola Naval Air Station attack in 2019, as well as the recent Bourbon Street truck attack in New Orleans. He remarked, “These attacks were not just against people; they were an all-out assault on Western culture, freedom, and the values we hold dear.”
Tuberville described it as a policy failure to permit terrorist suspects entry into the United States, claiming that thousands on terror watch lists have gained access over recent years. He stated that the combination of Islamic extremist ideology and Sharia law is “un-American” and encouraged other states to adopt measures similar to Texas to prevent its implementation. “There is room for only one law in this country, and that is the Constitution of the United States,” he asserted.
The senator mentioned the Hamas terrorist attack on October 7, 2023, which resulted in the deaths of over 1,200 people, including 40 Americans. He criticized some lawmakers for failing to denounce these acts, saying, “These two senators were elected to represent the American people, but instead they sympathize with Islamic terrorists.”
Drawing comparisons with Europe, Tuberville warned that the U.S. could face similar instability if proactive measures aren’t taken. “If we’re not careful, the United States will look like Europe within 10 years,” he cautioned. “Mass immigration has destroyed their societies. There is no freedom of speech, crime is rampant, and openly anti-Semitic, pro-Hamas violence is common.”
He condemned the treatment of women in nations under Islamic law, pointing out issues like forced child marriage and educational restrictions. “In countries that follow Sharia law, it is considered normal for women to be raped, trafficked, and forced into marriage as young as six years old,” he stated. “Everyone, especially feminist organizations, should be outraged by this horrific abuse of women.”
Tuberville referred to the persecution of Christians in Nigeria, claiming that over 62,000 Christians have been killed by Islamic extremist terrorists since 2000. He remarked, “This extreme ideology comes from the depths of hell and has no place in American society.”
He insisted that his statements focus on national preservation rather than partisanship. “This is not a Republican or Democratic issue. This is an American issue,” he emphasized. “If we do not take a firm stand now, our way of life, our Christian values, our freedoms, and our national identity will disappear.”
Tuberville’s comments followed previous calls for a stronger national defense and moral leadership. He reiterated the necessity of standing with Israel, describing the current situation as a “battle of good versus evil,” while he criticized the Biden administration’s policies towards Iran for fostering hostility and instability in the Middle East.
In conclusion, Tuberville urged for immediate action to counter the spread of extremist ideologies. “Now is the time to act,” he implored. “Because if we don’t, we will lose this country as we know it. This country will disappear.”
