Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp are down in major Meta outage

As of Wednesday afternoon, more than 150,000 users had reported outages across Meta's WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram apps. DownDetector.com.

According to a Reuters report, Instagram announced late Wednesday that its service was back online, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.com. The number of reports had dropped to more than 1,000 on both apps as of 6 p.m. ET.

The website, which tracks service outages, said more than 96,000 Facebook users reported problems accessing the app, with a spike in reports just before 1 p.m.

More than 69,000 Instagram users reported similar issues when accessing the Photos app, and more than 12,000 users reported an outage across Meta's secure messaging app, WhatsApp, according to the company. DownDetector.com.

“We are aware that technical issues are impacting some users' ability to access our apps,” Mehta said. Said in X's post. “We are working hard to get things back to normal as soon as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”

According to a map on the website, reports have come from users across the United States, with a heavy concentration of reports from users in cities such as New York, Boston, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
