Families of hostages taken by Hamas expressed their gratitude towards President Trump, celebrating the acceptance of a new peace plan that includes the release of 48 remaining hostages. During a phone call with Trump, facilitated by Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, the families shared their relief and appreciation.
As the phone call began, the atmosphere was filled with joy. Shouts of “Thank you!” echoed, along with exclamations like “You did it!” and “This is amazing.” One man thanked the president for his unwavering support of Israel and its people over the years. He conveyed a sense of trust in Trump’s ability to ensure the hostages’ safe return, saying, “We believe in you. We appreciate everything you’ve done… Since you took office, and even before.” The man concluded with, “God bless the peacemakers.”
Another voice in the group joined in, saying, “God bless you, Mr. President. God bless America.” Trump assured everyone that all hostages would be back by Monday, prompting loud cheers from the assembled families.
This gathering in Washington, D.C., marked two years since Hamas’s unexpected attack on Israel, and it came just after the anniversary of that tragic event. The peace plan was accepted the day after the commemoration. The families noted in a statement, “Yesterday, we were at the Sukkah of Hope with the Trump administration, and today, he announced our loved ones will return home.”
The group, known as the Hostage and Missing Families Forum (HMFF), emphasized its commitment to advocating for all hostages until they are reunited with their families. “We won’t cease our fight until the last of the 48 are home. This includes those who perished in captivity, as well as those still alive,” they stated.
In closing their message, the families acknowledged Trump’s courage and thanked the administration for its efforts, expressing hope and determination for the future.
