“Everyone here knows everyone. You know, we're a very close-knit community. Everyone looks out for everyone. So things like this don't happen here. It's a tragedy beyond comparison,” Lanham told WTAE-TV.

“It's really scary. It's really hard to wrap your head around something like this because this is multiple murders that happened in a small, small town,” she told the outlet. “You don't hear things like that every day, and it's surprising.”

Friends of Michelle recalled that the 48-year-old mother of two was an animal lover.

“This is not just one tragedy, this is four tragedies happening at once,” Autumn Ashurst told WTAE-TV. “People are, one, desperate for answers, and two, desperate to figure out how they can help.”

Michelle and Cody shared a love of aviation and volunteered at the Air Heritage Aviation Museum in Beaver Falls. The nonprofit said they will be “sorely missed” at the museum.

“Michelle has been in the secretary position for the past two years. Both Michelle and Cody were avid C-123K Fairchild provider Thunder Pig crew members. They frequently flew shows and high-flying flights together in Thunder Pig, and were very proud of this. In fact, this is the last known C-123 still flying in the world,” the museum said in a statement. “Both loved the aircraft, had a wealth of knowledge about it, and enjoyed sharing its history with those who toured the aircraft during air shows.”

“She and Cody will be greatly missed by everyone at the museum and by all the visitors she happily greeted at the museum,” they said. “Michelle and Cody will both be honored and memorialized at the museum, so everyone who enters will know of their contributions and selfless service to our organization.
