Actor Darius McCrary, known for his role in CBS’s family problems, was arrested near the US-Mexico border and is reportedly being held without bail on a felony charge.
McCrary gained fame as Eddie Winslow on the popular ’90s series family problems. Records indicate he was apprehended last weekend on a “fugitive arrest” and is presently in a San Diego jail without bail.
Reports say the 49-year-old actor was taken into custody by U.S. Border Patrol shortly after 7 p.m. on October 5 due to an out-of-state felony warrant.
McCrary’s representative, Ann Barlow, stated to TMZ that the warrant stemmed from the actor’s failure to appear in court regarding child support payments in Michigan.
Notably, McCrary has been arrested twice for similar issues, once in 2015 and then again in 2023.
McCrary and his ex-wife, Tammy Browner, filed for divorce in 2017, finalizing it in February 2019. He is required to pay $1,366 monthly in child support.
However, sources close to Browner mentioned to TMZ that McCrary’s recent arrest isn’t related to the child support situation.
After their divorce, McCrary was mandated to complete courses for alcohol/drug abuse and batterer intervention within a year, with Browner receiving full legal and physical custody of their then-three-year-old daughter, Zoe.
In 2018, Browner accused McCrary of “partially” dislocating Zoe’s arm. Reports from that time indicated that Browner stated he grabbed Zoe by the arm after taking her to the bathroom, while McCrary denied these allegations, claiming he was only lifting her in a different manner.
The child was diagnosed with nursemaid’s elbow, a common injury among young children that occurs when their arm is pulled suddenly, causing a partial dislocation.
McCrary is set to appear in court for the first time on Wednesday, and details regarding the nature of the out-of-state felony warrant remain unclear.
