The family has confirmed the identity of a young woman found shot dead on Saturday in a Boston home associated with Massachusetts Representative Ayanna Pressley’s husband.
While police haven’t officially named the victim, her family has identified her as 18-year-old Yoselliani Marte through a GoFundMe campaign launched by her mother.
In the fundraiser, Marte’s mother stated that her daughter was killed “as a result of domestic violence.”
Authorities responded to a residence in Boston’s Mattapan neighborhood around 1:52 p.m. on Saturday, discovering a victim with a single gunshot wound, as detailed in a police report obtained by Fox News Digital.
According to public records, the home is owned by Conan Harris, who has been married to Pressley since 2014. Though they own the property, they do not reside there, as it is reportedly a rental.
The property is currently listed for about $1.15 million.
A representative from Pressley’s office mentioned to Boston 25 News that neither she nor her family were involved in the incident, expressing condolences to those affected by the tragedy.
Neighbors reported that their typically peaceful neighborhood was disturbed by the police presence over the weekend. One neighbor shared, “When I got home, the police were on the street, cordoning off the area with crime tape, and all the neighbors were gathering.” They added, “I’m sad, really sad, because I know this area is a great place.”
Family and friends gathered for a vigil for Marte on Sunday night. Meanwhile, Boston police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
