A Family Saved by Their Brave Dog in Orange County
A family in Orange County, California, owes their safety to the bravery of their dog, Fillmore.
The dramatic event unfolded around 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, as the family was preparing for bed while Fillmore was dozing off. According to the Orange County Fire Department, the dog’s persistent barking caught their attention.
Curious about the commotion, the family looked out their back window and noticed a troubling flicker. Initially, they thought it was a neighbor’s house on fire, but it quickly became clear that it was their own garage burning.
In a frantic effort to manage the situation, the family grabbed a garden hose and tried to control the flames until firefighters arrived. Thankfully, the firefighters were able to contain the fire in the garage and protect the main part of the house. Fire crews removed a vehicle from the garage to ensure that any remaining hotspots were safely extinguished. It was noted that Fillmore received some well-deserved attention from the firefighters before they left the scene, with the agency humorously suggesting, “Give this dog an award!”
