Starbucks in Burbank Closing After Nearly 30 Years

A much-loved Starbucks in Burbank is closing its doors after almost three decades of service.

This particular location, nestled next to Bob’s Big Boy on Riverside Drive, will brew its last cup of coffee on Saturday, shutting down permanently at 9:30 p.m.

Locals have affectionately dubbed this spot “Bobbucks,” a charming nod to its proximity to the iconic restaurant.

The announcement of the store’s closure has stirred nostalgia among long-time patrons, who often reflect on what set this Starbucks apart from the typical franchises.

In a post on X, Marla Seraphine highlighted the unique, standalone architecture of the store, along with its ample windows and natural lighting, suggesting it felt more connected to the surrounding area compared to other Starbucks locations.

She pointed out that the closest Starbucks that will remain open after this location shuts down is in an office building that lacks the same inviting atmosphere, essentially saying the experiences at the two places are quite disparate, even though the product offerings are the same.

This emotional connection was echoed by the local Instagram account Preserve Burbank, which expressed gratitude to the staff for “decades of good coffee and fun,” mentioning that the community will certainly feel the loss.

The closure is part of a broader pattern, with Starbucks planning to close around 250 stores across North America this week. However, the company hasn’t explicitly stated whether this Riverside Drive location is included in that wave of closures.

Starbucks has indicated that the recent store closures target those that are underperforming financially or do not align with the customer experience the brand aims to deliver.
