Fan Pauses Game 1 of NBA Finals to Take a Selfie with Victor Wembanyama

During the fourth quarter of Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday night, fans rushed the court, hoping to snap selfies with San Antonio Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama and Mitchell Robinson of the New York Knicks.

The New York Knicks eventually secured a 105-95 victory, but the game paused momentarily as an agitated fan made his way onto the court, cellphone in hand, attempting to capture the moment.

A calm Wembanyama appeared unfazed, while Robinson’s confusion was evident until security swiftly intervened and removed the intruder.

“A fan runs across the floor trying to take a selfie. Security quickly takes him away. The crowd boos, but luckily no one was harmed,” ESPN commentator Mike Breen reported during the strange episode.

“It would be a shame if that happened,” added analyst Tim Legler.

Spurs coach Mitch Johnson later downplayed the incident, referring to it as a minor issue.

“I don’t think it was a big deal,” he remarked. “The security handled it well, and the game continued.”

Wembanyama, however, seemed more focused on his own performance after the game, admitting, “I was bad tonight,” despite scoring 26 points. “It was pretty straightforward…”

According to ESPN, fans who enter the court during games might face ejection, bans from future events, or even legal consequences.

It remains unclear if the fan from Wednesday’s game faced any legal repercussions or just a stern warning from security at Frostbank Center.
