Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis appeared at her daughter's arrest last month along with former Georgia special prosecutor Nathan Wade after alleging the two had already ended their workplace affair.
On August 24, Willis' pregnant daughter, Kinaya, was stopped by officers who observed her using a cell phone while driving. Daily Mail Reported.
“Of course, don't write my address.”
According to a police report seen by the news outlet, Kinaya told officers he was on his cell phone “because his mother called him about a pregnancy.” He told officers he didn't know his driver's license had been revoked three months earlier for unpaid traffic tickets in Florida.
Kinaya, 25, was reportedly driving the car with her sister, Nia, 26, in the passenger seat, who had been on the phone to her mother after her arrest.
DailyMail.com reported that Kinaya was cooperative throughout her arrest and did not try to use her position as a mother to avoid charges.
After Kinaya had already been placed in a patrol car and was being driven to the Fayette County Jail, Willis showed up at the arrest scene with Wade, her alleged former partner.
At one point, officers referred to Willis and Wade as Kinaya's parents, but Willis corrected them, calling him “just a friend.”
“Why was she stopped?” Wade asked the officers on the scene.
Willis said when authorities notified her that Kinaya's license had been revoked, it was “the first I'd heard of it.”
During her interaction with the officers, she stated, “Of course don't give my address. My address is fine for you guys, but not for the whole world,” before giving away her address.
“For obvious reasons,” one of the officers responded, suggesting he was aware of Willis' position as district attorney.
Kinaya has since been released and ordered to appear in Tyrone Municipal Court for arraignment in October.
Willis indicted former President Donald Trump last year on 41 criminal counts alleging he violated Georgia's Organized Crime Act by trying to change the outcome of the 2020 presidential election in that state. It's one of four indictments against Trump.
Willis hired Wade to head the case, but after their affair was exposed, Wade resigned.
In a January court filing, Willis was accused of having an “inappropriate secret relationship” with Wade. She acknowledged the affair but claimed it began after Wade was hired and ended in 2023.
Willis' lawsuit against Trump over an inappropriate workplace romance has been postponed, but she continues to work on the case.
