Tuesday night marked the on-ice debut for the Utah Hockey Club, with a total of 16,020 fans filling Salt Lake City’s Delta Center. However, the historical night involved more than just a puck, it also involved beer — lots of it.
During the inaugural game (both overall and at home) for the Utah Hockey Club, beer sales brought in a whopping $120,000, which set an all-time record for games at the Delta Center in its 33-year existence, according to the franchise per Front Office Sports. The record only stands for sporting events, with the number being bigger for concerts and additional events.
The ownership of both Utah HC and the Jazz, Smith Entertainment Group, fully embraced it by showing off the beer festivities on their video boards while their team was out there taking care of business in a campaign-opening win over the Chicago Blackhawks.
