Cracker Barrel has been undergoing changes in its physical appearance, and many customers are taking notice. However, not everyone is happy about these transformations. Earlier this year, Cracker Barrel’s chief marketing officer, Moore, mentioned that the company is experimenting with “various levels of modifications” to create a more welcoming atmosphere while still preserving the essence of its country-style charm.
Despite the intention behind these changes, there’s been a wave of backlash on social media from devoted fans. Some recent Instagram videos highlight this discontent, with one caption declaring, “The Cracker Barrel cannot be fixed slightly.” This sentiment resonates with others who feel like the new style is too generic and detracts from the unique ambiance of the chain.
One customer commented harshly on the alterations, saying, “Now this place looks like every other chain restaurant. Bland and boring.” Another user echoed similar frustration, questioning the design choices with remarks like, “What are you thinking about with that interior?”
Moore explained that these adjustments aim to enhance the “physical guest experience,” emphasizing that they are grounded in customer feedback. Iconic elements such as rocking chairs, biscuits, and peg games will remain part of the experience, as they work toward making the restaurant more inviting for a broader audience.
Rachel Love, a content creator from Tennessee, has drawn attention to this topic through her videos, which have garnered millions of views and thousands of comments. One of her posts features the new interior alongside a caption expressing her discontent with the modifications, simply stating, “I hate it.” The response has been overwhelming, with followers urging the chain to reconsider its direction.
Moore reiterated Cracker Barrel’s commitment to listening to its customers, acknowledging the importance of feedback from different guest segments, including longtime supporters, those who haven’t visited in a while, and potential new diners. “We want to delve deep into the story unfolding on social media and understand how our fans perceive us,” she noted.
While some aspects of the brand will evolve, Moore assured that the core elements that define Cracker Barrel will remain intact. “What makes us who we are— that hasn’t changed.”
