Body camera video shows the moment an Oklahoma father was arrested by police after he allegedly fled a single-vehicle crash that killed his teenage daughter and injured other family members.
Bixby Police responded to a motor vehicle crash on Jan. 11 at approximately 9:20 p.m. KJRH-TV report. Officers found 16-year-old Shelby Binney near the scene of the car accident. She was reportedly thrown from her car during a rollover car accident.
Binny was rushed to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators said Shelby was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was removed from the vehicle.
Her mother and two elementary school-age siblings were also injured in the traffic accident and taken to the hospital.
The father of the family, Elliot Binney, was missing from the scene of the car crash.

An anonymous witness told KJRH-TV that he ran to the scene of the accident and found a man wandering around the wrecked SUV. Witnesses claimed they tried to sit the “disoriented” man down, but he ran away.
“At some point, the driver's father, Elliot Binney, left the scene and walked to the family business to retrieve the vehicle,” Bixby Police Chief Todd Blish said in a statement. KOKI-TV.

Officers tracked Elliott down in Checotah, about an hour away from the fatal car crash.

According to the arrest report, Binney told officers that the accident occurred on a rainy night when he hit a grease stain on the road and lost control of his vehicle.

Vinny was arrested and charged with fatal crash, first-degree manslaughter, and leaving the scene of a vehicle for passing a vehicle in a no-passing zone.
Binney, 41, was released on $102,100 bail.
KJRH-TV According to reports, Binney had previously been charged with leaving the scene of an accident three other times. However, the state allegedly dismissed his charges in 2010 and 2016.

The cheer group Shelby was a part of described the teenager as “a bright light in the gym, a hard-working athlete, and the best teammate you could ask for.”

Shelby was a sophomore at Bixby High School. The high school has sent a counseling team to “provide support to students and staff who need help processing this very difficult news.”
