Tragic Discovery in Ohio
An Ohio father didn’t return home one night, and his wife ended up tracing his phone to a CVS store, where he was unfortunately found dead in a trash compactor.
Andrew “Andy” Strand, 34, from Brunswick, was working as a contractor at the CVS in Shaker Heights when the incident occurred on Wednesday, as per reports from local news. Concerns grew when he didn’t make it back from work, prompting his wife to contact authorities. They began searching the CVS lot after she managed to pinpoint his location through his cell phone.
Shaker Heights Police Commander John Cole shared that they received a call from Strand’s wife just before 10 p.m. on that Wednesday. The investigation is still ongoing, and the Cuyahoga County coroner is currently working to ascertain the cause and manner of his death.
Strand, who had previously been a mechanic, had recently launched his own business. Friends noted that he was passionate about his work, and a GoFundMe campaign highlighted that his death was “sudden and unexpected,” leaving his family in distress.
The fundraiser detailed that he had a love for ice hockey and cars, which he passed onto his son. “He was an involved father, coaching his sons’ hockey and baseball teams while supporting his daughters in their dance and gymnastics pursuits,” the fundraiser explained.
Organized by a close friend of the family, the funds raised will be directed towards supporting Strand’s family and covering his funeral expenses.
