A grieving father is seeking clarity from the FBI after his 18-year-old daughter, a high school cheerleader, was found dead aboard a Carnival cruise ship. Anna Kepner was pronounced dead on Friday morning while on a family cruise in international waters on the Carnival Horizon.
Christopher Kepner, her father, expressed his confusion and sadness, stating that the family remains in the dark about the circumstances surrounding his daughter’s death.
“Everyone was questioned. Everyone got off the ship. We don’t know who they’re investigating or what they’re investigating,” said Christopher, 41, from Titusville, Florida.
“The FBI hasn’t informed me of anything yet. I hope they reach out, but I don’t have more information than others,” he added, clearly feeling helpless.
“I really have no idea what’s happening right now. I’m just waiting for answers,” he said.
The FBI is handling the investigation into this tragic death, yet has shared limited details regarding what led to Anna’s passing. As reported, the Miami-Dade County Coroner’s Office recorded the time of death as 11:17 a.m. on November 7, without clarifying the specifics.
Following the incident, the Carnival Horizon altered its itinerary and docked at the Port of Miami on Saturday.
Christopher, trying to manage the flood of speculation online about his daughter’s death, mentioned, “I had to shut out the world. I don’t watch TV anymore. I literally had to stop interacting with the internet.” He added that he and his family are private individuals and that their lives have been irrevocably changed.
Known affectionately as “Anna Banana” to her loved ones, Anna was on track to graduate from Temple Christian School in Titusville in May. Recently, she had also completed her military entrance exam, showcasing her ambitious spirit.
