Father of DC Jewish shooting suspect Elias Rodriguez invited to Trump speech by far-left politician Chuy Rodriguez

Father of Suspected Shooter Honored at Congressional Event

The father of a suspect involved in a shooting near the Israeli embassy has recently made headlines. Eric Rodriguez was acknowledged by members from both sides of Congress during an event for President Trump’s address in March.

Senator Jesus “Chui” Garcia (D-Ill.) remarked on Thursday night that while Rodriguez was a guest at the president’s speech, he doesn’t truly connect with what’s happening with his family. He expressed admiration for Rodriguez, calling him “an outspoken advocate for veterans’ services and the rights of unionized federal workers.”

In March, the senator lauded Rodriguez for representing the best qualities of their community, noting that those who serve the nation continue to fight for veterans and protect workers’ dignity. The senator emphasized that having him at the event sent a strong message about not allowing veterans and workers to be manipulated in political games.

On the same day, Rodriguez appeared in a video for the Service Employees International Union, identifying himself as a veteran of the Iraq War and a current employee with the Veterans Affairs Division. He shared his concern about the direction in which the VA system is heading under the influences of figures like Elon Musk and Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, his son Elias was charged in federal court with multiple counts, including first-degree murder. This follows the fatal shooting of Jaron Lisinsky, 28, and another employee of the Israeli embassy as they left an event at the Jewish Museum.

Elias was arrested after allegedly firing nearly 20 rounds at a couple engaged in the ceremony, reportedly shouting “free Palestine” during his apprehension. Reports reveal that one of the victims attempted to flee the scene before collapsing.

Eyewitnesses from a nearby store indicated that Eric Rodriguez sought assistance from a clerk to translate an Arabic article regarding his son’s involvement in the shooting. He later issued a statement denouncing the act of anti-Semitism, expressing deep sympathy for the victims and those affected by the tragic event.

Rodriguez emphasized that while they mourn the loss of life, violence cannot pave the way for justice. Attempts to contact him for further comment on Thursday were unsuccessful.
