Father of the bride forgets his own daughter in wedding-day ‘fumble’

The father of the bride accidentally leaves his daughter down the aisle on her wedding day.

Neil Crossley is the 60-year-old father of daughter Amy Totty, who he recently married in Yorkshire, England.

The father of the bride happened to have a standout moment during the wedding ceremony when he started walking down the aisle to the altar without his bride.

Eventually, there was a miscommunication between the bride's father and event staff, and Crossley was stopped halfway down the aisle by a staff member who told him to return to walk with his daughter.

He told SWNS that that “first mistake” was funny to everyone there and they were able to joke about it in the bride's father's speech at the wedding reception.

A dilemma that plagues brides on their wedding day: they are worried about being invited by “strange people or unprofessional people.''

“When I joked that the guests thought I was at the wrong wedding, they laughed so hard that everyone took it in good spirits,” he said.

Totti and her husband even thought the moment was funny.

She told SWNS it was just a “pure miscommunication.”

“He thought he was being told to walk when actually he was being asked to wait,” she said.

The bride said all of her guests laughed with “perfect timing” and brought smiles to everyone's faces during the emotional moment.

“I was especially grateful because I was trying so hard not to cry, and he helped me calm down,” Totti said.

She added: “It was a special moment none of us will ever forget.”
