Travis Decker Seeks More Time with Daughters Amid Serious Charges

New audio from a Family Court hearing reveals Travis Decker pleading with the judge for increased visitation with his three daughters who are tragically involved in a murder accusation.

The bodies of Decker’s daughters—Paicin, 9, and twins Evelyn and Olivia, ages 8 and 5—were discovered in a wooded area about 30 miles from a campground in Rock Island, Washington. According to the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office, federal authorities began assisting with the search on June 8 after local officials recognized the need for more resources. Decker, who is a trained former Army soldier, has faced scrutiny in light of these events.

“Local resources need to be rested,” the statement from officials clarified. “However, CCSO leadership continues to manage search coordination and leads ongoing criminal investigations.”

Reports indicate that Decker’s visitation time with his daughters has diminished in recent years. His ex-wife, Whitney, along with her attorney, has expressed concerns about the potential dangers to the children, attributing the reduced time to issues of mental health and communication rather than any specific incidents.

In a surprising turn, during a Family Court hearing in September 2024, the judge awarded almost full custody to Whitney, citing allegations of negligence and mental distress on Decker’s part. He was permitted to see the girls on weekends.

Decker voiced his frustration regarding the current custody agreement, stating he wished to have more time with his daughters. “I’ve managed a day and a half, maybe two days. It’s usually a Friday night and Saturday night. I work in Idaho due to my job situation and my location. I want to be there for my daughters, but the current parenting plan feels like it limits my opportunities,” he explained.

According to court documents, there have been incidents where Decker’s children were heard crying during phone calls with their mother while on outings with him, adding to concerns about his ability to care for them overnight.

“I don’t think it’s fair that I’m completely restricted after the weekends,” Decker argued, pointing out that they always camp in safe, designated areas. “We’ve never put ourselves in unsafe situations,” he told the judge.

Despite the judge’s decision to limit his time with the girls, Decker has sought alternatives to the custody arrangement, wondering aloud, “Is there nothing that can change this? My signature doesn’t seem to matter, right?”

In a troubling detail, the affidavit states that Whitney attempted to reach Decker after he failed to return the girls by the 8 PM deadline on May 30, but he did not answer her calls, although he has reportedly never missed a curfew before.

Further court records reveal that Decker has struggled with mental health issues, including borderline personality disorder. It seems he is currently homeless, living in campsites and motels.

Decker is facing three counts of first-degree murder and charges related to luring.
