Fauci’s Upcoming Senate Testimony Sparks Controversy

As Anthony Fauci prepares for his subpoenaed testimony regarding the coronavirus’s origins and response this Wednesday, Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) has released parts of Fauci’s personal diary along with some emails and documents. These writings reveal Fauci’s uncertainties about a natural origin for the virus, discussions on data deletion, and his thoughts on achieving fame.

On his program, Glenn Beck discusses these revelations. He refers to Fauci as an “egomaniac monster” and speculates about what might unfold in the hearings.

Jason Butrill, a lead author and researcher on the show, reads from Fauci’s diary, emphasizing that it contradicts the widely held belief that the virus was naturally derived.

“On January 26, 2020, Fauci noted: ‘Now we know it wasn’t the market… it was the amplifiers,’” Butrill pointed out, adding, “Anyone who disagrees with natural origins is dismissed as an idiot… and it’s unfortunate.” He continued by explaining that out of a conference call with 12 scientists, only two believed the virus had a natural origin.

Both Glenn and Jason suggest that Fauci’s public endorsement of natural origins may have been a defensive move, considering that U.S. funding under Fauci was directed toward research that might have been linked to the lab leak in Wuhan.

“We have laws against this [gain of function research]. …Yet he maneuvered around them and tried to cover it up,” said Glenn, pointing out that Fauci might feel he is responsible for many deaths but chose to circumvent the law.

Perhaps most surprising is an entry from Fauci’s diary showcasing his inflated sense of self-importance even amid increasing death tolls. “Someone said Tyra Banks was sexy, but I was sexier,” he wrote.

Glenn reacted to this, saying, “Another 1,200 people died this morning… but hey, I’m the sexiest man alive.” It’s shocking, really.

Jason followed with another eye-catching diary entry where Fauci expresses feeling overwhelmed by pressure due to multiple articles linking him directly or indirectly to issues surrounding the pandemic.

Another entry had Fauci mentioning an invitation to be part of “Dancing with the Stars,” which Glenn found quite ironic given the circumstances, stating, “Can we please acknowledge the millions of people dying?”

They also reflected on a September 2020 InStyle magazine cover, featuring a relaxed Fauci wearing sunglasses by a pool. “It’s just grotesque,” Glenn lamented.

Reading through these diary entries has made Jason realize just how addicted Fauci seems to be to public attention and fame. Notably, Glenn noted that President Biden’s sweeping pardon protects Fauci from prosecution for past actions or statements. However, if he were to re-address the same questions now—especially with new evidence contradicting his previous answers—he could find himself in legal trouble for perjury under oath.

Glenn speculated that Fauci might be too prideful to admit any past dishonesty, leaving him with a thin option: a “plead the Fifth.”

“If he makes a fifth argument, it’s pretty clear he was lying,” Glenn reflected.
