TUCSON, Ariz. – The Nancy Guthrie Case
On Monday, former FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino discussed the mysterious disappearance of Nancy Guthrie on FOX News’ “Hannity.” Following this, a former FBI agent and doctor suggested alternative theories beyond the primary narrative of kidnapping for ransom.
As the second deadline for ransom demands passed on Monday night, the kidnappers allegedly requested $6 million in Bitcoin from the Guthrie family via the media. This situation led some, including Bongino, to question the validity of the kidnapping theory.
Bongino acknowledged the possibility of kidnapping but also presented another perspective. He suggested, “Perhaps this is simply a crime that went wrong. Maybe it was a burglary. Something happened, and individuals are holding us to ransom, taking advantage of a chaotic situation.”
Authorities have offered a $50,000 reward, but as of now, there are no identified suspects in the case. Bongino remarked that his theories are not ranked by likelihood, stating, “Another possibility worth considering is that there might have been a medical emergency involved, not necessarily a kidnapping.” He elaborated that, if someone goes missing swiftly in cases like this, it raises various scenarios—either the initial information was misleading or something else occurred.
Former FBI agent Johnny Grusing supported the idea that multiple explanations could exist concerning Guthrie’s disappearance, noting that it’s now been nine days without any leads.
Grusing also highlighted the ransom demand’s peculiar nature—the alleged kidnappers seemed to lack urgency by contacting the media rather than the family directly, which deviates from typical behavior of criminals seeking ransom. He further noted that while the supposed abduction seemed methodical, the ransom demand appeared disorganized.
Dr. Nicole Saphier, a radiologist and commentator, backed Bongino’s hypothesis of a potential medical emergency but remained skeptical about it being the likely cause. She mentioned that while the Guthrie family reports no known cognitive issues with Nancy, unexpected medical conditions can’t be overlooked.
Delving further into theories, she suggested that if there was indeed a kidnapping, it could have escalated due to a medical issue stemming from the traumatic encounter. She worried that the shock of an intruder might have triggered a significant health crisis for Nancy.
As this investigation unfolds, questions remain, and the search for answers continues amidst growing uncertainty.
