More than a dozen FBI informants entered restricted areas in and around the Capitol on January 6, 2021, according to a Department of Justice Investigator (IG) report released Thursday.

Of those more than 20 informants, four entered the Capitol during the riot, and the remaining 13 crossed security lines and entered the Capitol grounds, according to the report.
The results of the Justice Department IG's investigation were previously unknown. Former FBI Director Christopher Wray has consistently refused to tell lawmakers whether the FBI had informants or undercover agents at the Capitol during the January 6 riot.
In July, FBI Director Chris Wray dodged questions about confidential human sources at the Capitol on January 6th.

“I'm not going to go into when or where we didn't use confidential human sources,” Ray said. said Republican Indiana Rep. Victoria Spartz answers questions about whether the FBI had an informant at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 during a House Judiciary Committee hearing in July.
Justice Department investigators also revealed that only three of these FBI informants were instructed to come to Washington, D.C., on January 6th to collect information. All three were on the Capitol grounds during the riot, but one entered the building.
Another FBI informant who entered the U.S. Capitol during the riot reported his trip to Washington, D.C., to authorities, but was later reimbursed for the trip to attend President Biden's inauguration several weeks later. The FBI asked him to return to the Capitol. , according to the report.
A confidential FBI source entered the Capitol on January 6th.
The FBI never asked him to enter the Capitol.
CHS was not arrested.
The FBI paid for his trip to D.C.
And CHS was ordered by the FBI to return for Joe Biden's inauguration.

Report says none of the FBI informants who entered the Capitol will be indicted, even though they appear to have committed crimes similar to those who took part in the January 6 riot and were indicted by the Justice Department. Not done. Nearly 1,500 Americans have been indicted by the Biden Justice Department in connection with January 6-related incidents.
“None of these FBI Confidential Sources (CHS) were authorized to enter the Capitol or any restricted areas on January 6th, nor did they encourage others to commit illegal activities on January 6th. There was no CHS directed by the FBI to do so,'' Justice Department investigators wrote.
The report said there was no evidence that the bureau's undercover agents entered the Capitol during the riot.
It is unclear whether members of the House Select Committee on the January 6 attacks were previously aware of the report's findings. The offices of the Jan. 6 committee chairs, Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson of Mississippi and Democratic Sen. Adam Schiffs of California, did not immediately respond to requests for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
