Car Bombing at Palm Springs Fertility Clinic
A car bomb exploded outside a fertility clinic in Palm Springs, California, and the man responsible has been identified as a 25-year-old who referred to himself as a “self-explained ruler.”
According to the FBI, the alleged bomber, Guy Edward Bartkus, used explosive devices in a car parked outside the reproductive center, which specializes in IVF treatments, egg collection, and other related procedures.
Akil Davis, the assistant director of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office, mentioned during a press conference that they are working to confirm Bartkus’s death, stating he was likely discovered in the vehicle.
The car involved was a 2010 Silver Ford Fusion Sedan, as further elaborated by Davis. He described Bartkus as having nihilistic ideas and indicated the incident was deliberate. “This was a targeted attack,” he noted, adding that it appears Bartkus intended to live stream the act.
Reports suggest that Bartkus recorded a manifesto detailing his beliefs, voicing opposition to bringing children into the world without ensuring their future welfare. He expressed anger about existence, saying, “I thought they were just going to make a recording explaining why they decided to bomb the IVF buildings and clinics.”
Bartkus identified himself as anti-life, particularly criticizing IVF. He reportedly stated, “I’m very against it. That’s very wrong. These are the people who give birth to children after they sit there and think about it. How stupid can it be?”
This act has been classified by authorities as “a deliberate act of terrorism.” Mills, in a press conference, remarked, “Terrorism knocked on the door of Palm Springs. We’ve survived, and we can say that the city will be more effective as a beacon of hope than before.”
