Rand Paul Accuses Fauci of Covering Up Coronavirus ‘Conspiracy’
Senator Rand Paul, a Republican from Kentucky, has made serious allegations against Dr. Anthony Fauci, claiming that Fauci was involved in funding gain-of-function research that contributed to the global pandemic. Paul asserts that Fauci pressured intelligence agencies, including the CIA, to alter their original assessments regarding the origins of the COVID-19 lab incident. He expressed frustration over what he describes as “misdirection, conspiracies,” and “cover-ups” that have confused the public about the virus.
According to documents revealed by Paul, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers were set to interrogate British zoologist and disease ecology specialist Peter Daszak after his return from a World Health Organization investigation into the origins of COVID-19. However, the FBI stepped in and advised the officers to discontinue their preparation.
Paul commented on a platform, stating, “They told the public that a coronavirus lab leak was ‘impossible.’ Their own messages tell a different story. Today, I am launching a viewing room where the public can access records from my ongoing investigation—the actual documents, not just summaries.”
CBP had flagged Daszak as a “person of interest” before his arrival at John F. Kennedy International Airport on February 5, 2021. Daszak, who once led the EcoHealth Alliance, had a long-standing collaboration with the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) and was involved as the principal investigator on a National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant focusing on bat coronavirus research in China.
Documents indicate that a substantial portion of the funding he received was directed towards gain-of-function research. The NIH had asked Daszak to retrieve and return original specimens used at the WIV for genetic assessment, and there were notes outlining various aspects of his connection with the institute, including requests for cell phone data.
CBP intended to question Daszak about his activities in China, his contacts at WIV, and whether he unlawfully gathered or transported biological samples.
Internal communications have raised concerns around Daszak’s involvement in gain-of-function research and the possible conflicts of interest associated with federal grants.
Interestingly, just three days before Daszak’s planned arrival in New York, the FBI’s New York Field Office requested the suspension of the intended stop, and ultimately, no inspection occurred.
Records comprise detailed flight itineraries, proposed questions for interrogation, and internal communications that showcase disagreements between agencies regarding the search.
Paul emphasized in a lengthy thread that this situation is only the beginning of the story, stating, “The viewing room will be updated as the investigation progresses.” At the time of the interception, Daszak led the now-defunct EcoHealth Alliance, an organization focusing on emerging pandemic diseases, including those from bats. He was also a member of a WHO team that visited China to investigate the origins of SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for COVID-19.
Despite his connections to WIV, Daszak faced public scrutiny for being part of the WHO investigation team due to potential conflicts of interest. He currently heads Nature Health Global, which is a nonprofit organization committed to ecological research, public health, and pandemic prevention.
