FBI investigating classified documents leak on Israel’s planned attack on Iran

The FBI is investigating the leak of classified documents containing top-secret U.S. information about Israel's plan to attack Iran, Fox News Digital has confirmed.

“The FBI is investigating the alleged leak of classified documents and is working closely with the Department of Defense and our partners in the intelligence community,” the agency said in a statement. “As this is an ongoing investigation, we have no further comment.”

The Pentagon has already acknowledged that it is investigating the unauthorized release.

White House National Security Council Press Secretary John Kirby told reporters on Monday that he had no information on whether the unauthorized release was the result of a hack or an employee leak.

“We don't know exactly how these documents ended up in the public domain. We do know that the Department of Defense is investigating this,” Kirby said. “We cannot answer the question of whether it was a breach or a hack. At this time, we will let the investigation proceed in its logical direction.”

“We are deeply concerned, and the president continues to be deeply concerned about the leaking of classified information into the public domain,” Kirby said. “That shouldn't happen. And when it does, it's unacceptable.”

Kirby said there was no indication that any additional classified documents would be leaked to the public and that the United States was in contact with the Israeli side about the release.
