The FBI confirmed Monday that it had established a task force to investigate a wave of vandalism and arson incidents targeting Tesla in recent weeks.
“director [Kash] Patel was clear and clear. The FBI will be less committed to its mission to protect the American people,” the FBI said in a statement, confirming the task force's report.
“Like the recent Tesla attacks, violence, vandalism and domestic terrorism acts are pursued in the full power of the law,” the FBI statement continued.
The New York Post was first reported On Monday, the 10-person task force was launched as a joint effort by the FBI's counterterrorism division and the Bureau of Alcohol, cigarettes, firearms and explosives (ATF). The task force has been trying to counter violent activities targeting Tesla vehicles and charging stations in recent weeks.
The post reported that so far this month the FBI has received reports of 48 incidents involving Tesla.
“You can see: The FBI has launched a task force in conjunction with the ATF to coordinate its investigation activities and crack down on violent Tesla attacks,” said Ben Williamson, assistant director of public relations for the FBI. I said on social platform xrespond to the talk of posts about the task force.
Patel also responded to the Post's talk by calling the attack on Tesla “domestic terrorism,” pledging to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“The FBI is investigating an increase in violent activity against Tesla, and over the last few days we have taken additional steps to crack down on and adjust the response,” Patel said. I wrote it on x.
“This is a domestic terrorist attack,” he continued. “The person in charge will be pursued, caught and brought to trial.”
The creation of the task force follows weeks of violent protests targeting Tesla's showrooms and charging stations by tech billionaire Elon Musk, which will fuel concerns that political tensions could reach a boiling point amid rage over Musk's efforts to reduce federal bureaucracy.
Musk faces backlash against government efficiency leadership that encourages massive layoffs in federal agencies, cuts government programs and gains access to sensitive personal information.
