FBI Investigates Leak of “Inaccurate” Information on Iran Nuclear Facilities

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt recently announced that the FBI is looking into the source of a leak concerning the alleged damage to Iran’s nuclear sites. This leak reportedly provided “inaccurate” details to CNN.

According to CNN reporter Natasha Bertrand, a preliminary assessment from the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) indicated that the U.S. airstrikes on three nuclear facilities had only postponed Iran’s nuclear ambitions by a few months.

However, former President Trump remarked to NBC News that the DIA report on these strikes was incomplete. It seems that the details were still being finalized when they were leaked, leading to potential misrepresentation in the media.

Trump insisted that those who provided the information failed to fully account for the damage inflicted by the B-2 bombers.

On the same day, Leavitt appeared on Fox News’ “America Reports” and confirmed that an investigation is underway to find out who leaked this classified intelligence report.

“I was informed by the FBI that they are already investigating the leak, and they absolutely should be,” Leavitt expressed. “This was a top-secret analysis that only a select few in the government had access to. It’s appropriate for the FBI and the Department of Justice to look into this.”

Shortly after, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth accused CNN of attempting to manipulate the narrative regarding the GOP administration’s actions in Iran to damage Trump’s reputation.

“The instinct of CNN and the New York Times is to twist things for their own political agenda, which seems aimed at harming President Trump or our country. They appear indifferent to what the troops think or how it affects global perception. Their goal is to use this leak against him,” Hegseth asserted.

In response, CNN released a statement defending their reporter, claiming it isn’t fair to blame journalists for accurately reporting the existence of the assessment.

Experts believe that the leak likely came from a lower-level employee within the DIA, describing it as a “paper-pusher” situation. This disruption was seen as a narrow view of a fleeting situation, lacking coordination with other intelligence agencies, which suggests it wasn’t a whistleblowing act but rather an opportunistic leak.
