FBI Investigates Disappearance of Nancy Guthrie
TUCSON, Ariz. — The FBI has been actively searching the neighborhoods near Nancy Guthrie’s residence for clues regarding her unexplained disappearance.
In a statement released on the agency’s website, federal authorities announced their operation and urged local residents to exercise caution.
“Earlier today, numerous FBI agents are conducting comprehensive searches along various roads in the Catalina Foothills in relation to the Nancy Guthrie case,” the statement mentioned. “We request that media individuals and drivers adhere to all traffic regulations and exercise extra care when passing law enforcement in these areas.”
Later in the day, a set of black gloves was discovered approximately a mile and a half southeast of her home.
Search Area Considerations
Former FBI Supervisory Special Agent Jason Pack commented on the search, speculating that there could be two reasons for focusing on that specific area. “First, it represents one of the most obvious routes for entering and exiting Nancy’s home,” he noted. “Secondly, there could be digital evidence that led investigators to concentrate their efforts here.” He added, “We need to remain cautious, as it’s unclear if the recovered gloves are truly linked to the case. But if they are, that would mark a significant breakthrough.”
Pack anticipates that further investigations will continue as the case unfolds.
Plans for Ongoing Investigation
“I would expect that investigators will broaden their search area and look for surveillance footage from nearby businesses and residences,” he said. “They plan to trace the timeline leading up to and following her disappearance, aiming to create a clearer path.”
A doorbell camera video that was shared by the FBI shows a figure fully covered in a ski mask, jacket, pants, and gloves.
Guthrie was last seen on the evening of January 31, with authorities believing she might have been taken from her home in the early hours of the next day.
Currently, no suspects have been identified in connection with her case.
