FBI Seeks Veterans Linked to Texas Ambush
The FBI is currently searching for military veterans believed to be involved in an ambush against officers at an immigration detention facility in Texas on July 4th.
The latest suspect, identified as Benjamin Hanil Song, 32, from Dallas, is the twelfth individual linked to the incident at the Prairiland Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas, which occurred last Friday night.
Song, a former Marine reservist, faces allegations of firing two AR-15-style rifles at two corrections officers and an Alvarado police officer, as detailed in criminal charges obtained by Fox News Digital.
He is charged with three counts of attempted murder of a federal officer and three additional counts related to using firearms in furtherance of violent crimes.
A blue alert was issued to residents in Texas on Wednesday evening, urging them to stay vigilant due to serious injuries sustained by law enforcement.
The charges state that Song participated in a premeditated attack involving a group of approximately 10 to 12 people targeted at the Prairiland facility just after 10:30 PM on Friday.
According to the complaint, the group, dressed in black and resembling military attire, started shooting fireworks towards the detention center while others vandalized vehicles and structures in the surrounding parking lot.
A corrections officer alerted authorities about the troubling activity. When Officer Alvarado arrived, he was shot in the neck by a suspect hiding nearby.
At the same time, another attacker fired multiple rounds at unarmed corrections officers exiting the facility.
Federal prosecutors claim that Song purchased four firearms tied to the shooting, two of which—AR-style rifles—were reportedly found at the scene.
One of these rifles was equipped with a binary trigger, enabling faster shooting than standard semi-automatic weapons.
Investigators have also recovered additional firearms, including another AR-15-style rifle, during searches of residences and vehicles.
While ten others are rumored to have fled the scene, they were eventually apprehended by law enforcement.
As for Song, he remains at large, according to the complaint.
A white Mercedes-Benz linked to the suspects was discovered two days later near the residence of one of the other attackers.
The FBI has named Song a person of interest and considers him armed and dangerous, offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to his arrest and conviction.
The other individuals charged in connection with the attack include Cameron Arnold, Savannabatten, Nathan Baumann, Zachary Evetz, Joy Gibson, Bradford Morris, Marise Laruda, Sethsykes, Elizabeth Soto, and Ines Soto.
Additionally, one individual faces charges for obstructing justice and conspiracy to conceal or destroy evidence, as stated by prosecutors.
