FBI Investigates Charlie Kirk’s Death

The FBI has released new images of individuals connected to the assassination of Charlie Kirk, a conservative speaker who was shot on Wednesday at Utah Valley University during a public speaking event.

One photo depicts a slender man wearing jeans and a long-sleeved black shirt featuring an American flag graphic. He also sported black sunglasses and a hat.

On Thursday, FBI investigators reported that they had traced the escape route of the shooter and recovered a “strong bolt-action rifle.” A special agent in Salt Lake City provided details, mentioning they also acquired foot, palm, and forearm prints related to the incident.

Details Surrounding the Shooting

After initial announcements from authorities indicating that arrests had been made, they later released the individuals involved.

A gunshot was reported at around 12:20 PM local time. One dispatcher’s audio included a rather suspicious description, stating, “He’ll be wearing a long black gun, a black tactical helmet, a black mask, a tactical vest, and jeans.”

Authorities indicated that the shooter arrived at about 11:52 AM and accessed a rooftop via the stairs of a campus building. The event began at noon, and following the shooting, the suspect reportedly jumped down and fled into the neighborhood.

Charlie Kirk, who was 31 years old and the founder of Turning Point USA, succumbed to his injuries. Graphic footage captured the scene, depicting chaos as he fell and attendees screamed in panic, scrambling for cover. Other videos showed movement on the roof across from where Kirk was speaking.

The university, hosting over 40,000 students, initially reported that around 1,400 people had RSVPed for the event. However, the Utah Department of Public Safety later estimated approximately 3,000 attendees were present.

Eren Trenner, the Associate Vice President of Strategic and Communications Management at Utah Valley University, confirmed that Kirk was invited to speak by the student group Turning Point USA. He described the severity of the situation during a campus briefing.

The shot was reportedly fired from a distance of about 200 yards. Following the incident, Kirk’s security quickly transported him away from the scene.

President Donald Trump was among the first to publicly announce Kirk’s death. In a social media post, he expressed his condolences, saying, “The great and legendary Charlie Kirk is dead… He understood the hearts of the youth of the United States better than anyone. Now, he’s not with us anymore. My condolences go out to his family, especially his wife, Erica.”
